I am concerned that California's Air Resources Board's failure to get Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) back onto California's roads.  Between 1996 and 2002, 4,400 ZEVs were put on roads of California.  Instead of building upon this success, CARB allowed these vehicles to be removed from service.

You are driving a "green" agenda to reduce greenhouse gases (CO2) 25% by 2020 and 80% by 2050 over their 1990 levels.  A recent University of California study indicated that half of the necessary CO2 reductions for 2020 could be accomplished with electric drive cars.  Now the California Air Resources Board proposes to allow automakers to backslide on their 2003 agreement and require just 2500 true ZEVs from 2012-2014, a number that would not even begin to approach past success. Startups like Telsa plan to introduce this many ZEVs alone; surely the major automakers can do better.

Please stop CARB from killing the electric car all over again - get real CO2 reduction by asking your CARB chair, Mary Nichols, to push the automakers to keep their 2003 promises and (1) require the full 25000 ZEVs between 2012-2014, and (2) provide incentives for Plug-in Hybrids (with a minimum of 25 miles all electric range) by taking from the dirtiest cars, not the cleanest ones.
