Candidate Marc Geller
Professional background: Northern California sales rep for solar PV installation company; freelance photographer.
Education: BA, History, Grinnell College, Grinnell, IA
EV owner/driver: Ford Th!nk City (2001-2004); RAV4 EV (2004- )
I joined the EAA in 2001 when I began driving a Ford Th!nk City. I began participating in EAA rallies, attending chapter
meetings, testified against the evisceration of the ZEV mandate in Sacramento, CA, organized a protest against Ford’s
cancellation of the Th!nk program, and generally promoted electric cars during the course of my daily life. I became a
salesman for a virtually unobtainable product.
I was elected to the Board of Directors in 2005 and wish to be considered for re-election. I co-founded DontCrush.com and
serve on the Steering Committee of Plug In America and am Vice President of the San Francisco Electric Vehicle Association.
I am a contributing editor of Current EVents, writing a monthly column. I also host a blog, Plugs and Cars (
http://plugsandcars.blogspot.com
) devoted to the issues surrounding electric cars.
Over thirty years ago the gasoline crisis of the ‘70s led to the creation of the EAA. Over two decades have passed since
worsening air pollution begot California’s original ZEV mandate which led to the creation of production electric cars. Over 6
years have gone by since 9/11 focused our attention on the national security danger posed by our dependence on petroleum.
It is now years since we came to understand that a significant portion of the greenhouse gases that contribute to global
warming are the result of petroleum-fueled internal combustion vehicles.
Yet still most Americans don’t know what we know: Electric cars work today, and could be providing zero-emission, oil-free
driving for millions. I wish to continue to work toward the day consumers have the option of purchasing a vehicle that does not
sabotage our environment, politics and personal well-being.
